ZINNIA CARVAJAL

Zinnia is a bi-lingual (Spanish) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Forensic Psychology. She has more than 5 years of experience providing therapy to couples and individual adults experiencing a wide range of social and personal problems. Zinnia specializes in domestic violence, trauma, depression, anxiety, stress management, cultural concerns, and marital/relational problems.

AMANDA MEYERS

M. Amanda Myers is a Licensed Social Worker with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Amanda has a certificate from Jane Addams College of Social Work in evidence-based mental health practices with children, and has a special interest in helping individuals and families. Amanda has worked in social services for over ten years and has experience in assessing and treating depression, anxiety, and trauma.

ADRIANA MANZANO

Adriana Manzano is a bilingual (Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master‘s Degree in Social Work. Adriana has 17 years of experience providing psychotherapy to individuals and couples in the areas of anxiety, depression, domestic violence, financial stress, grief and loss, relationship issues, low self-esteem, phase of life problems, and stress management. Adriana provides a supportive environment in which clients can feel encouraged to make the changes to obtain a better quality of life.

SHARONDA GILES

Sharonda Giles is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master‘s Degree in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and is working at Catholic Charities as Substance Abuse Counselor. Sharonda has experience providing psychotherapy to individuals who may be struggling with co-occurring disorders, substance use, anger and stress management, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and trauma. She has CPI certification as well as training in Mental Health First Aid. Sharonda believes in the necessity of cultural competence and sensitivity when working with clients from diverse backgrounds and populations. She focuses on empowering clients by using empathy and a strength based approach. Sharonda became a therapist to help people navigate their complex worlds in order to live a healthier and happier life. She believes in a holistic approach that all components of a person’s life are interrelated and she concentrates on the importance of identifying the individualized needs of her clients. Through her strength-based, holistic approach, she strives to help individuals achieve the goals they have in mind for themselves.

CECILIA KASEM

Cecilia Kasem is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. 
As a bi-cultural and bilingual (English & Spanish) counselor with 10 years of experience Cecilia is respectful of her client's individual culture, religion, racial/ethnic background, physical condition, gender preference, and socioeconomic status. She describes her style of counseling as collaborative, compassionate, and holistic by incorporating mindfulness and self-care into goal planning. Cecilia strives to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for her clients in order to support their healing process.
Cecilia uses an eclectic approach to psychotherapy utilizing Cognitive-Behavioral, Narrative, Interpersonal, and Solution-Focused Therapy. Her therapeutic interests include working with individuals and couples dealing with depression, anxiety, health-related issues, self-esteem, life transitions, and relationship issues.

MATTHEW SHAY

Matthew Shay is a substance abuse counselor with experience with intake assessments, residential treatment, outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment and with both individual and group treatment with adults and adolescents. He has worked extensively with individuals with co-occurring mental health disorders and trauma. He has facilitated numerous groups including a Working a 12 Step Group. He has training and experience with SBIRT screening in a medical setting and case coordination with individuals experiencing homelessness. Matthew has a Certificate in Addiction Studies, passed his Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor Exam (CADC) and is currently studying Social Work at Northeastern Illinois University and finishing his supervision hours to be a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). Matthew plans to complete a Masters in Social Work. Matthew is able to develop a strong rapport with his clients and strongly believes in the importance maintaining your mental health.

TIARA SMITH

Tiara Smith is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) with a Master’s in Social Work. Tiara has three years of experience in providing substance abuse treatment in a residential and outpatient setting. Tiara’s experiences include outpatient substance abuse treatment, intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment, working with individuals with co-occurring conditions and trauma and providing SBIRT in a medical setting. Tiara has been trained and is certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) and has received training on the SBIRT model. Tiara has a particular interest in educating individuals on stress management techniques and providing them with new tools that they may have never previously considered for reducing stress. Tiara enjoys engaging groups and individuals in hands on activities and experiential learning activities. Tiara believes that the application of tools learned during hands on activities prepares individuals for addressing problems outside of the therapy room.

VERONICA LOPEZ

Veronica Lopez is a bi-lingual (Spanish) a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She has 10 years of experience in the mental health filed providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, grief and loss, trauma and life transitions. Veronica believes in using a variety of therapeutic approaches, depending on clients’ individual needs, exploring ways for change allowing for forward with hope.

Juanita Uribe is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Juanita provides individual, couples and family therapy in English and Spanish. LIZZEL BARRAGAN

Lizzel Barragan has her Master’s in Social Work and is working towards obtaining her licensure. Lizzel has experience in working with victims of domestic violence, clients with depression, anxiety and trauma. Lizzel also has experience working  with children and adolescents. Lizzel believes on empowering her clients so they can begin to heal and take control of their lives.

PATRICIA BRODEREK

Pat serves as a bi-lingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a Master’s Degree in Religious Studies.  Pat  has 12 years of experience working with adults, couples, and families to treat a variety of needs like depression and anxiety, loss and grief, unhealthy relationships (including domestic violence) and communication problems.  Building self-esteem, discovering meaning in life and outreach to the needs of the Spanish speaking immigrant community are among her interests.  Pat believes that each person has the right to be happy and to learn tools to maintain their happiness.

VICTOR ALVAREZ

Victor Alvarez is a bi-lingual (Spanish) Clinical Family Service Specialist Counselor, M.A. He has more than 14 years of experience in the mental health field, particularly working with Latino clients. He provides individual adult and couples therapy for a variety of needs, including mood and anxiety disorders, communication issues, cultural concerns, grief, domestic violence and loss. He provides support groups for males victims of domestic violence and conferences on different mental health topics. Victor believes in using empathy to create a positive environment which empowers clients so they can discover their potential.

AARON LEW

Aaron A. Lew is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. JULIE PALUMBO

Julie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has a Master of Social Work degree from Nationally Accredited University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut Family Studies program majoring in Human Development and Family Relations with a concentration in counseling services. She has been employed in community based mental health settings for ten years full time and at non profit agencies for fifteen consecutive years. She has extensive experience and training in recovery focused strengths based programs such as the 'clubhouse model' of psychiatric rehabilitation with adults. Julie has also conducted group facilitation, individual service planning, job development and coaching, supportive housing case management. In addition, she has experience working in Behavioral Health with children ages infant to eighteen and has received training in and has performed clinical individual and group therapeutic services to children and their families utilizing Theraplay, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Family systems approaches. Julie currently works with adults and specializes in Self Psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-based methods in clinical practice.

BOB ARVIDSON

Bob is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who works with both individuals and couples. This is a second career as Bob worked for a large insurance company for many years.  Bob has a particular interest in communications and finds this particularly helpful when working with couples.  He has had good success in relating to both men and women and helping them better understand each other’s feelings and needs. Bob has been trained in the Emotional Focused Therapy approach and finds this helpful with couples.  Bob works with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, anger and other issues. He uses a cognitive behavioral approach to help clients understand the effect of their thoughts and behaviors on their moods. Bob has extensive experience in helping those doing job searches. He really appreciates the approach at Holbrook Counseling of doing goals based counseling that helps clients make improvements in those areas they feel are most important.  In addition to counseling, Bob teaches at two local colleges.  Bob earned his Masters degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University of Chicago and he also has an MBA degree from Roosevelt University.

Cheryl Joseph-Lukz is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Miami University. Cheryl uses a strengths-based, solution focused and relational approach with her clients. She employs multiple modes of therapy including Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral, Developmental, Existential and Spiritual Concepts to guide clients toward increasing self-awareness, personal growth and wellness. Cheryl views the therapist-client relationship as one of mutual trust and respect. She believes in educating her clients so that they can play an active role in their mental health and relational wellness. Cheryl has 20 years of extensive experience providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families. She is dedicated to assisting her clients in coping with and resolving challenges which arise throughout all of life’s stages including adolescence, adulthood and the senior years.
